Tivoli valle di Vesta: Master plan and renovation projects of buildings

Tivoli, Italy  2005-2007

Valle di Vesta Masterplan is part of the Tivoli development plan. Valle di Vesta, located east of the Tivoli historic center, became an abandoned area when paper production ended. The plan shows for the majority of the buildings to be demolished and to be transformed to a panoramic park.  Narrow streams will replace the streets that had connected the buildings. The old buildings that the plan proposes to preserve are located close to the walls of the city. Each preserved building has an information card that specifies the touristic, cultural or other functions that it might have.Another area to be renovated by the master plan is the ex Cartiera Parmegiani, built close to the historic center in the second half of the 1900s. The mass of the building obscures the view between the historic center and the surrounding valley, that had been the dominant characteristic of the area. The master plan recommends the demolition of this building and its substitution by a smaller one that offers public services and does not alters the view of the valley below.
